POLICE DEPARTMENT
PROPERTY TECHNICIAN
The property and evidence seized by the Department is stored for safekeeping until it is needed for court, taken to a crime laboratory for processing, returned to the owner, or destroyed pursuant to court order or departmental regulations. The responsibility for safeguarding and accounting for the property and evidence falls upon the Property/ Evidence Technician.
Supervision of the Evidence Technician is done by the CID Commander, but the technician is the primary person responsible for the huge volume of property/evidence held by the department and requires each police officer to properly document the seizure and handling of the evidence to insure that court evidentiary rules and state laws are followed.
The Property Division can be contacted Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mansfield Police Department Public Safety Building by e-mail or calling (817) 276-4762.
