Hometown Holidays Rescheduled
With the winter weather not cooperating for this weekend’s special events, the City of Mansfield is rescheduling the Friday evening Hometown Holidays tree lighting at City Hall and Saturday’s Hometown Holidays parade in historic downtown.
The good news is that we still get to celebrate the festive season at a combined "Hometown Holidays" event set for Saturday, Dec. 14. The rescheduled activities have changed slightly but still offer Mansfield residents a fun way to kick off the holidays.
The Hometown Holidays parade will continue along its historic downtown Mansfield route, starting at 3 p.m. The Hometown Holidays tree lighting events will begin at City Hall, 1200 E. Broad St., after the parade and run from 4 to 6 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in their house ready for visits. There will be arts and crafts, entertainment, horse drawn carriage rides and food vendors on hand. The event will conclude with the City Hall tree lighting and fireworks at 6 p.m.
Mayor David Cook said city officials felt the Hometown Holidays event was too important to cancel and wanted to give residents an opportunity to celebrate the holidays as a community.
