Mansfield Named One Of The Best Places To Live

MANSFIELD, Texas - Citing the city's lush parks and opens spaces, great schools and low crime, MONEY Magazine and CNN/Money have named Mansfield to its annual list of Best Places to Live in America.

Mansfield was one of only six Texas cities named this year to the prestigious list released Monday, ranking 83rd in the Top 100 "Best Places to Live." The city also ranked 13th on the magazine's list of youngest communities, with a median age of 22.61.

The magazine also cited the city's booming economy, in particular the new jobs created by the opening of Methodist Mansfield Medical Center and the expansion of Mouser Electronics.

"The (medical) center has not only provided Mansfield with a much-needed ER, but the influx of doctors and their practices has created a surge in job openings. ... And with more medical looking to set up shop in Mansfield, the boom is likely to continue," the magazine said on its website.

City leaders expressed excitement at the announcement and pointed to the work over the years of elected officials, community volunteers and city staff in making Mansfield a desirable community in which to live.

"It is gratifying that the rest of country now knows what the residents of Mansfield have known for quite sometime: this is a special place to raise a family and enjoy life," said City Manager Clayton Chandler. "This recognition is the result of hard work and vision by our residents, our community leaders and volunteers and our city staff to provide the highest quality of life possible for Mansfield."

Chandler also said tremendous growth, high quality of life and economic development activity has drawn national attention to Mansfield, and cited the MONEY Magazine's list as a coup that will positively impact growth and economic development activity in the future.

"Residents and businesses looking to locate in Mansfield will see this list and learn more about what we have to offer," Chandler said. "We are beginning to reap the rewards of all the work we have done as a city over the last 10 years to build and grow this community. Over the next several years, projects like The Shops at Broad Street, Big League Dreams and Hawaiian Falls and the continued growth of the medical district will further solidify our designation as a best place to live."

"The Best Places to Live" list is developed each year by MONEY Magazine following extensive research of thousands of cities and towns across the nation. Analyzing economic and quality of life indicators such as average home price, average household income and education performance, the list is narrowed to the Top 100 communities.
