ROAD UPDATES
- Ragland Road (Matlock Road to Holland Road)
- Paving is now complete and will be open to two-way traffic soon. Remaining sidewalks and retaining walls will then be constructed. Cleanup and project completion is expected within the next couple of months.
- Matlock Road (Cannon Drive to Ragland Road)
- Paving is now complete and will be open to two-way traffic soon. Cleanup and project completion is expected within the next couple of months. The design phase is underway for floodway improvements on the area just north of the Walnut Creek Bridge, which are related to the new roadway.
- East Broad St./Walnut Creek Drive bridges over US 287
- These two bridges are being widened by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to accommodate additional turn lanes onto the US 287 frontage roads and an additional turn lane onto Country Club Drive. The bridge construction is currently taking place and expected to be complete in October.
- Debbie Lane (US 287 to Walnut Creek Drive)
- The installation of the new waterlines, sanitary sewer lines, and the storm sewer system is complete. The new eastbound lanes are nearly complete and paving operations are underway on the new westbound lanes. All paving is expected to be complete by the end of September. As this project nears completion, TXDOT will begin construction of a new traffic signal at the Debbie Lane & US 287 frontage road intersection.
- Newt Patterson Road (Five Points Intersection to North Main Street)
- Newt Patterson Road will be widened to a 49-foot wide concrete street with sidewalks on both sides. A storm drain system, a new 24-foot waterline and new sewer line will also be constructed with this project. The sewer line is currently under construction.
- First Avenue (West Broad Street to West Dallas Street)
- The project will be bid in September 2004. Improvements include the replacement of the water and sewer lines and concrete pavement between West Broad Street and West Dallas Street.
- Smith Street (East Broad to railroad tracks)
- The project will be bid in mid September 2004. Improvements include the replacement of the water and sewer lines and concrete pavement between East Broad Street and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.
- Industrial Boulevard (Main Street to Fourth Avenue)
- The project will be bid in October 2004. Improvements include the replacement of the water lines, sewer lines, the installation of a storm sewer system and concrete pavement between Main Street and Fourth Avenue.
- West Broad (Main Street to Cotton Street)
- Preliminary design is nearly complete on the West Broad widening project, approved by voters in a 1998 bond election. The street will be widened to a four-lane, median divided concrete thoroughfare from Main Street to Cotton Street. In addition, a new storm sewer system, new water lines and new sanitary sewer lines will be constructed between Main and Cotton streets.
- Magnolia Street (Walnut Creek Drive to Laurel Street)
- Preliminary design is underway on the Magnolia Street reconstruction, approved by voters in a 1998 bond election. Magnolia Street will be repaved with concrete between Walnut Creek Drive and Laurel Street.
- East Broad Street in Grand Prairie, near the Mansfield border
- East Broad Street in Grand Prairie will remain closed until mid October according to the latest information from the City of Grand Prairie. It will be closed between Day Miar (at the city limits) and Webb Britton Road. The detour route will be Seeton Road. This is due to development construction in Grand Prairie.
- FM 917 Realignment
- The realignment of the northern section of FM 917 will start approximately 800 feet north of English Trail and will redirect traffic flow to Business 287 at Heritage Pkwy. This will allow traffic to bypass the present downtown junction of 917 and Main St. According to the latest information available from TXDOT, construction will begin during September 2004.
