SENIORS PROGRAM

The seniors program is filled with dynamic outgoing people who love to fellowship with others and have a great time.

COME AND JOIN US

The senior activities program (Young At Heart) is open each Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. except on some holidays. Programs are for age 55 and up.

A nutritious well-balanced meal is served daily Monday thru Friday at 12:00 noon. Meals are to be reserved by noon the prior day. For meal cancellations, please call in by 10:00am. If you are 60 years of age or over, or the spouse of a person 60 or over, the recommended contribution for meals is $2.00.

For participants that are under 60 years of age, the recommended contribution is $6.00. Transportation is provided Monday through Friday to and from the MAC for senior citizens residing within the city limits of Mansfield. Reservations are required one day in advance.

THINGS THAT WE DO

Activities

Among the activities available are senior sing-a-long, bridge, ceramics, exercise, bingo, games(dominoes,cards,mahjong), crafts, Red Hat Society and dance classes. Day trips are also planned for participants, as well as parties, and restaurant excursions. Senior dances will be held the first Monday of each month at 7p.m. to 9:30p.m.

Services

Services offered occasionally for seniors include blood pressure checks, monthly newsletters, shopping, speakers, tax counseling, nutrition information, senior fitness and transportation.

There is so much going on with our Seniors Program that we just can't list everything. More information on activities, educational classes and services can be found in the Senior Newspaper and the Mansfield Activities Center brochure.

WANT TO VOLUNTEER?

Volunteers play a vital part in the success of the senior activities. There is trully something for everyone. We need volunteers to serve on committees, serve and clean up the daily lunch, teach classes, count daily lunch money, work the front desk as a greeter and the list goes on and on.

Enhance your resume and have fun while doing it. All volunteers are asked to record their time on forms in the volunteer box. Part of the funding for the meal program is based on volunteer hours logged for the center. Your work is greatly appreciated. We couldn't do it without you. We need you!
