PARK DESIGN
HOW IT WORKS
Park design begins when a piece of property is brought into the system or is being brought out of holding and ready for development. Design also occurs when renovations to existing facilities require updates. Park design is the physical design for the facility to program how the facility will lay out and work.
Park design is generally done with outside consultants like Landscape Architects, Engineers and Architects following a program developed through community input meetings written by staff and managed by park staff. Once a design is complete, the Mansfield Park Facility Development Corporation endorses or approves the plan and initiates the design development portion of project which includes construction document preparation.
Once the construction documents are prepared the project is advertised for bid and generally awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. This process ranges from 6 to 9 months and is based upon the size of the project in design.
