Library Cards
Why get one?
You need a Library Card to take advantage of all the materials, resources, and services the Library has to offer, including use of a library computer.
How do I get one?
Simply stop by the Library with a current picture ID and proof of address and you can be set up in just a couple minutes.
Who can get one?
Anyone who can provide a current picture ID and proof of address can get a free Mansfield Public Library card.
RESERVING MATERIALS
Patrons with Mansfield Public Library cards are allowed to reserve materials that are not currently on the shelf at no charge. Patrons can reserve up to 2 items at a time via phone; additional items must be reserved in person at the library.
When the materials become available, a library staff member will call the patron to advise the patron that 1) the materials are ready for pick up and that 2) the patron has three days to pick up the materials. If the materials are not picked up in three days they will become available for the next patron, or reshelved.
LOAN PERIODS
There is a limit of 3 VHS tapes, 3 DVDs, and 3 music CDs per check out. There is a 5 item limit per subject and on Holiday (Easy section), Bluebonnet and Caldecott books. There is a limit of 5 magazines per check out. All materials may be renewed (over the phone or in person) as long as the material is not on reserve.

FEES AND CHARGES
Fees or charges may be levied for overdue, damaged, or lost materials. Materials will be examined as they are returned and fees and charges may be assessed. Lost materials should be reported to a library staff member.
Overdue fee for late materials:
- 25 cents per day for each overdue item
Other fees or charges:
- 10 cents per page for photocopies or use of a black & white printer.
- 25 cents per page - for photocopies or use of a color printer
- $1 for library card replacement
- $1 for 3 1/2 floppy diskette.
- $3 for replacement of audio/video case or kit bag
- $6 for replacement of DVD or CD case
- $15 processing fee plus retail price of the item for lost or destroyed library materials
- No charge for Interlibrary Loan unless we are charged by the lending library. There is a charge for items returned late or damaged.
- If Interlibrary material is not picked up within 3 days of notification, a minimum fee of $2.00 per item will be charged to the patron's account to cover the cost of return postage.
