MANSFIELD READS "ONE CITY ONE BOOK"
It's a real literary mystery!
The Mansfield community and author Matthew Pearl speculated about what happened to Charles Dickens' last manuscript at the Evening with the Author event during the seventh annual Mansfield Reads! program in April. Although it is still a mystery, a great time was had by all!
Mr. Pearl visited Mansfield and the MISD high schools as part of the award winning Mansfield Reads! One City, One Book program. The library hosted a book discussion, a writer's workshop with Mr. Pearl and a Shakespeare display from Humanities Texas as part of the month long event. People across the city read The Last Dickens and talked about it all over town.
The Friends of the Mansfield Public Library would like to thank all of the citizens who participated this year and invite everyone to stay tuned for more information about next year's program.
How does Mansfield Reads! work?
In the month of April everyone in the community is encouraged to read the same book at the same time. The Friends and the Library sponsor many events, programs and activities in conjunction with reading the book. Public dialogue and discussion of the book is encouraged as a way to open conversation between all members of the community. Everyone gets to share a good book!
