MANSFIELD READS "ONE CITY ONE BOOK"
It's A Whole New Ballgame!
We're going to the playoffs this year! The Friends of the Mansfield Public Library are proud to present Friday Night Lights by Pulitzer Prize winner H. G. Bissinger as the featured book for the fifth annual Mansfield Reads! One City, One Book program.
The City Council has proclaimed April as Mansfield Reads! month. Everyone has something to say about this book! It is an engaging story of a town, a team, and a dream set in Odessa, Texas during the 1988 high school football season. Pick up your copy and join your friends and neighbors in reading a great book.
How does Mansfield Reads! work?
In the month of April everyone in the community is encouraged to read the same book at the same time. The Friends of the Mansfield Public Library sponsor many events, programs and activities in conjunction with reading the book. Public dialogue and discussion of the book is encouraged as a way to open conversation between all members of the community. Let's share a good book!
April 2008
One of the most talked about events in the city, the Evening with the Author, will take place on Friday April 25th. Click the calendar link to find out how to meet Mr. Bissinger and talk about the impact this book has had.
As part of this exciting weekend, Mr. Bissinger will present a writer's workshop and the library will screen the major motion picture version of the movie. Visit the library to see displays of football memorabilia and a special exhibit of sports sculpture presented by Sculptureworks.
Join the library book club in a discussion of the book. The Calendar of Events has all the information you need to join the fun.
