MANSFIELD CLEAN WATER PROJECT
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
The Public Participation program is designed to provide opportunities for local residents and businesses to take part in protecting our local waterways. Various activities will be held throughout the year where volunteers will be sought, like the Creekside Cleanup and Cookout. Other activities will ask residents and local businesses to participate in events to help make them a success, like the Household Hazardous Waste collections.
Whether acting as a volunteer or a participant, taking part in Clean Water Project programs can lead to improvements in the quality of our local waterways.
Mansfield Trashoff
The Mansfield Trashoff is an excellent opportunity for volunteers from the Mansfield community to get together, help beautify our community, have fun, and get to know one another a little better.
Creekside Cleanup and Cookout
An annual event to be held at one of our local waterways. The goal is to remove litter from the banks and streambeds, conditions permitting. More information on when and where this event takes place is found on its page. Volunteers are needed to help with litter removal, cooking and other activities.
Storm Drain Marking
This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity for individuals and groups to mark local storm drains with a plaque to help raise awareness about where water storm drains goes. More information about this program can be found on its page.
Neighborhood Beautification Program
The Neighborhood Beautification Program is designed to put the power in the hands of the people. Residents who are interested in taking charge of the image of their community are encouraged to contact the Clean Water Project to get more information about this exciting new program. Some supplies, and limited assistance will be provided by the Clean Water Project, but it is local leaders who will select the areas, recruit volunteers, and host the event. For more information about this program, a guidance manual, and a fact sheet check on its page.
Adopt-A-Creek
This program is currently under construction. It will be another volunteer opportunity where individuals and groups can adopt a portion of stream segment and pledge to clean the segment at least twice per year. For more information about this program, check back Summer of 2008.
