ROAD UPDATES

Street Bond Program (construction)
- West Broad Street (Main Street to Cotton Street)
- Paving is complete. Several field changes are being finished and clean up is under way. Median street lights will be installed by Oncor in September. Bids for median landscaping and irrigation will be opened in late July and installation will follow street lights.
- Willow Street (Dallas to Dayton)
- Project is complete.
- Brookfield Lane
- Project is complete.
- McCampbell Rd
- Paving is complete. Clean up is under way.
- Province Lane and Berkeley
- Paving is complete. Clean up is under way.
- Gertie Barrett (Country Meadows Drive to FM 1187)
- Subgrade preparation and paving are under way.
- Sherman Dr (Price to Walnut Creek Drive)
- Paving is complete. Clean up work is in progress.
Street Bond Program (design)
- Callender Road (US 287 to Turner Warnell)
- This project includes improving Callender to a four-lane undivided section, installation of a storm drainage system and water and sewer improvements. Final plans are being reviewed. Right-of-way and easement acquisition is nearly complete. Franchise utility relocations are under way.
- McKown Dr (Kay Lynn to Dayton)
- Construction bids were opened July 7. The award of a contract should be on the July 27 council agenda. Franchise utilities have been relocated.
- Cardinal Rd (FM 1187 to Columbia)
- Final plans are being completed. Franchise utility relocations are under way. Right-of-way and easement acquisition is nearly complete.
- Graves and Waxahachie (Broad to Dallas)
- This project includes reconstruction of the sewer line and installing concrete pavement with curb and gutter. Preliminary plans are under review.
- Ragland Extension (Country Club to Fairhaven)
- Ragland Extension is a short block running parallel to Matlock Road and is a last remaining unimproved section of road is this area. It will be reconstructed as a 29-foot concrete street with curb inlets and a new water line. Preliminary design work is under way.
- Oak Street (2nd to Smith)
- This project includes improvement of this downtown street to a concrete section with storm drain system. It will include on-street parking and aesthetic elements consistent with the Historic Mansfield plan. Preliminary design is under way.
- East Broad Street (Holland to Day Miar)
- This project includes reconstruction of Broad Street to a four-lane divided section and intersection improvements at Day Miar. Preliminary design work is under way.
- West Broad Street, Phase 2 (Cotton Street to Retta Road)
- This project is a four-lane divided extension to Phase 1. Preliminary design is under way.
- South Holland (Sports Complex to Britton)
- This project is in the bond program for design only; no construction funding. Staff is working on details of scope before we can begin contract negotiations.
- Newport
- This project includes reconstruction of the sewer line, storm drain improvements and concrete pavement with new curb and gutter. Staff is negotiating the scope of the project for a design contract.
Intersections and Misc. Projects
- Burl Ray and Fourth Ave
- Project is complete.
- 3rd Ave and Alvarado
- This is the 2007 CDBG reconstruction project. This will complete the final blocks of Alvarado and 3rd. Utility work is complete. Excavation and subgrade preparation are in progress.
- 4th Ave (Broad to Kimball)
- This is the 2008 CDBG reconstruction project. Excavation and subgrade preparation are in progress.
- E Broad Street @ SH 360
- The project includes signalization of both frontage roads at Broad St and widening of Broad between the frontage roads to a six-lane section. Construction has begun and the contract requires completion by July 15 2009.
- E Broad Street @ US 287
- TxDOT has issued a permit for this project. Staff is in the process of negotiating easements and right-of-way. This project consists of aligning four through lanes of Broad approaching and crossing the bridge, adding advanced left turn lanes and a right turn lane at the westbound approach. 80% of the funding has been committed by NCTCOG with RTC approval. Release of this funding requires action by the State. Staff is anticipating a mid 2009 bid date.
- US 287 Frontage Roads and Texas U-Turns (Broad to Walnut Creek Drive)
- This project involves completing the northbound and southbound frontage roads of US 287 from Broad Street to Walnut Creek Drive. It also includes Texas U-Turn bridges on both sides of Walnut Creek Drive and the north side of Broad Street. TxDOT is still reviewing final schematic design. 95% plans are under TxDOT review. Approval of final schematic design and environmental clearance are still needed before final plans will be approved. TxDOT bid date is now anticipated to be December 2009 at the earliest.
- Heritage Parkway (Mitchell to Matlock)
- MEDC contracted for the design of this project in December 2008. It involves a four lane divided section completing the link from US 287 to SH 360 including bridges over the railroad. The design and permitting process will run into Fall 2010.
TxDOT Projects
- FM 1187 widening (Bus 287 to Newt Patterson)
- Plans are being prepared by TxDOT. Right-of-way acquisition has been contracted to Tarrant County and is nearly complete. Utility relocations will be necessary including City water and sewer lines. TxDOT began relocation coordination meetings in early November 2008 and the City has been working on design of water and sewer relocations. Bid date is uncertain.
- FM 157 Alignment Study (Lone Star to US 67)
- TxDOT has conducted public meetings on proposed alignments. There are three preliminary alignments being analyzed for feasibility.
