ROAD UPDATES
- Debbie Lane (US 287 to Walnut Creek Drive)
- Major work is completed on the expansion of Debbie Lane between Highway 287 and Walnut Creek Drive. Clean up work along the roadway will continue into December. It is expected that TxDOT will have the new signal at Debbie & 287 operational by the end of the year, once right turn only lanes have been added to the frontage road.
- Newt Patterson Road (Five Points Intersection to North Main Street)
- Newt Patterson Road will be widened to a 49 foot-wide concrete street with sidewalks on both sides. A storm drain system, a new 24-inch waterline and new sewer line will also be constructed with this project. Water and sewer lines are complete and the storm drain is currently being constructed. Completion is expected in late spring 2005.
- First Avenue (West Broad Street to West Dallas Street)
- Construction is underway on improvements that include the replacement of the water and sewer lines and concrete pavement between West Broad Street and West Dallas Street.
- Smith Street (East Broad to railroad tracks)
- Construction will begin before the end of the year. Improvements include the replacement of the water and sewer lines and concrete pavement between East Broad Street and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.
- Industrial Boulevard (Main Street to Fourth Avenue)
- The project will be bid in December 2004. Improvements include the replacement of the water lines, sewer lines, the installation of a storm sewer system and concrete pavement between Main Street and Fourth Avenue.
- West Broad (Main Street to Cotton Street)
- Preliminary design plans are under review for the West Broad widening project, approved by voters in a 1998 bond election. Residents whose property will be needed for easements will be contacted before the end of the year. The street will be widened to a four-lane, median divided concrete thoroughfare from Main Street to Cotton Street. In addition, a new storm sewer system, new water lines and new sanitary sewer lines will be constructed between Main and Cotton streets. Work is expected to begin October 2005 with an 18 month construction schedule.
- Magnolia Street (Walnut Creek Drive to Laurel Street)
- Preliminary design is underway on the Magnolia Street reconstruction, approved by voters in a 1998 bond election. Magnolia Street will be repaved with concrete between Walnut Creek Drive and Laurel Street.
- East Broad Street in Grand Prarie, near the Mansfield border
- East Broad Street in Grand Prarie is closed between Day Miar (at the city limits) and Webb Britton Road. The detour route is Seeton Road. The reopening has been delayed according to the latest information from the City of Grand Prarie. It should open within a few months.
- FM 917 Realignment
- The realignment of the northern section of FM 917 is under construction. This roadway, once completed, will allow traffic to bypass the present downtown junction of 917 and Main St. and will reconnect at Heritage Parkway on Highway 287.
