PERMITTING
Most construction and remodel jobs require permits. The best way to find out if you need a permit is to contact the City of Mansfield Development Services at (817) 276-4220.
The Permit Process - Six Easy Steps to Safety and Compliance
Step 1: Get all your questions answered before you start your construction project

The City of Mansfield wants your project to be a success. If you have any questions about building heights, property setbacks, zoning issues or building codes, you can speak with someone in Planning Development and/or Development Services.
Step 2: Complete Application for a Building Permit
Document the "Who, What, When, Where and How" of your project. Provide drawings or plans of your proposed project as specified on the application form.
Step 3: Building Permit Review Process
Once your application and plans are submitted, they will go through the approval process. Several departments will review your plans and determine if your project complies with city ordinances and local building code requirements. If everything is approved, a permit will be issued. If there is a problem, you will be notified and possible solutions may be suggested.
Step 4: Building Permit Issued and Received
A permit fee will be determined based on your individual project. This fee includes the permit and all required inspections. The permit will be printed and you will be notified when it is ready to pick up.
Step 5: On Site Inspection
Inspections are required to ensure the scope of work being completed conforms to local codes and plans. You have access to a certified building inspector to help minimize potentially costly mistakes.
Step 6: A Safe Project
When completed, you have the personal satisfaction of knowing your project was done right. Enjoy your new surroundings with the peace of mind knowing your project is durable and meets the safety standards of your community.
